Radicchio Lettuce. (sold)

Hi people out there, this is a new painting done for a collector friend of mine, about a meter square,
and oil on canvas, I haven't been adding much to my blog recently due to the fact we are about to move back to Daylesford again, not that there is anything wrong with Adelaide!! we love it,  but the draw of old friends and the small community and also the proximity of Melbourne, and the galleries, is a big magnet to us.

A hint of Japonica.

Trying to keep the brushwork nice and loose, I still have trouble photographing a painting that has had a coat of varnish, anyway I shall keep trying.!

3 Pears.

Hi Guys, this is a new little painting, completed a couple of weeks ago, I was after some simplicity,
and wanted to see if I could give the pears an inner glow,
It seems funny to be painting pictures when the world is in so much turmoil at the moment, with trouble spots all over the place and evil being shown on the news every night, maybe if we all made more art and less war the planet would be so much better off.

Starry Starry Night. (sold)

This is a commissioned painting done for a collector in the U.K. I dont think my photo does it justice,
I find that when you varnish a painting to bring all the colours together, it makes the peice hard to photograph especially when there is a sheen on the surface.

Nest. August 2014

This painting has been on and off the easel for weeks, it's a large piece about 120 cm x 100 oil on canvas, in the end I have to let it go, and get on with my life!!  you know what they say... 'a painting is never finished it's only abandoned" my photo isn't that great, but I must say it looks very strong on a white wall,  very rich with lots of depth to it,  it will go into an upcoming exhibition. click on it for a close up.

Juicy Fruit.

Another small still life painting, it looks like it was painted in candlelight, ! very limited and subtle colours, I tried to make this a little less 'busy' than the last few images.

In Flight.

This is a recent painting on a favorite theme! the size is 1 meter deep by 120 cm wide, oil on canvas,
I will keep this for my exhibition early in the new year at 'Togs' in Castlemaine Victoria, I will give details of the location etc when we are closer to the date.

Still life for Richard and Pam (sold)

Some friends of ours bought a big still life painting last year, and have recently commissioned another one to go on the wall of their new kitchen this one is in acrylic and will suit the position really well,

Oakbank Nest.

My daughter Emily requested a big nest painting for her house, as I had 'borrowed' back an
earlier nest painting left over from an exhibition, so after much procrastinating, !! I finally
made an effort and did this one, click on it to get better detail.
it is over a meter deep and 120 wide.

my kitchen rules!!

I have produced a number of these large scale ( over a meter square ) acrylic paintings, over the last couple of years, with the emphasis on 'brightness', ' fun' and 'colour', this one is on our own kitchen wall,  hopefully we can have it for a while, before it goes to a new home.  The vases shown are a part of my collection of 'Carnival Glass'  or 'End of Day ' glass.

still life with mandarin.

Another small still life, 510 x 420 mm. oil on canvas. looking for a home, email me for price and freight charge. I can see a gold frame on this, it would look sensational.

life drawing from last night.

Another drawing using same method as described below, click on it to get larger view.

drawing from last night.

I used a black rembrandt pastel stick together with a rag to blur edges and get a tone, then added highlights in white, it has a painterly effect. click on image for a better and bigger image.

A new drawing made at harry's life drawing group at eastwood in Adelaide, done in charcoal
and using a rag to wipe away areas, the rag acts almost as a drawing implement.

New Nest Painting.

This one is about a meter square,  it is in Sydney at the moment, if anyone is interested please email me.

Some new paintings.

I have been doing some smaller still life pictures, very traditional but really close to my
heart, I may put a few more of these up over the next few days, I enjoy seeing the brush strokes.
