Dons nest. (sold)

A friend of ours brings in abandoned nests  for me to add to my collection, so I did this painting
for him, ( 60 x 76 cm.) oil on canvas.

Jonique.

I prepared the background, with a few bold splashes of acrylic before the class, I seem to do that a lot as it sets the choice of pastel, and adds an extra depth to the finished image. click on it to see the line work.

Creswick life class.

This one was drawn about 5 years ago, when we had a drawing group in Creswick, I like the honesty of the pastel work, so thought I would put up. again a large drawing 70 cm in height.

traditional still life.

This small painting was completed a few weeks ago, the dark background reminds me of the awful weather we are experiencing here in Victoria at the moment,!!  the wettest September ever recorded in some parts of the state.

Still life

A large painting about 1 meter x 1 meter, my photo doesn't do it justice, it looks a bit blurry
but you get the general impression!!.  I certainly had fun doing it, as you can see !!

male nude.

A drawing done at the Castlemaine ( Victoria.) drawing group a few weeks ago, not sure of the guys
name.

Blue Nude.

I haven't posted anything up for a while, so here are a few new pictures, this one done recently in life drawing class in Ballarat, if you click on the image it will give you a closer look at all the beautiful textures, the model was Sylvia, it was done in a 20 minute pose, in pastel. my drawings are fairly large 70 or 80 cm in hight.

Emerging 4. ( sold )

This painting is 102 x 76 cm. mixed media, Acrylic and oil, on canvas, also some nice
bits of collage, click on it to see the terrific 1950's playing card and a stamp that I designed many years ago  called 'Santa on a surf board' the 1st Australian Christmas stamp to have a cartoon featured.
This painting sold to a local couple that saw it while half completed on the easel, and they said can we have that one !!

sketch

A quick 5 minute pose drawn in pastel, something about it that I like !!  hope you do too !!

5 minute pose.

This is a very quick drawing done in black pastel a few weeks ago, at life class in Castlemaine, there wasn't time for detail but it describes everything that it needs to.

Kate.

This is an oil sketch done in 15 minutes on prepared paper, live from the model
in life class about 10 years ago, anyone interested in purchasing it, email me for a price it's on paper so it can be rolled and posted.

apples and red cabbage.

oil on canvas, a more exuberant and dynamic still life, I toyed with the idea of taking it to a more finished state but decided to leave it looking fresh.

Emerging 3.

This is a new painting, on masonite, ( wood panel. ) with a nice textural finish, I enjoyed playing with
both the oil and acrylic on this one, ( it follows  emerging 1 and 2 which sold very quickly ) it looks like the sort of image you would see looking out the window on a train journey into any big city I also used gold paint, so in different lights you catch
glimpses of gold.  it is about a meter in width by 65 cm deep.

Road to Ballan.

A large painting over a meter wide, by Valerie this one is beautiful in real life, ( click on it to see the lovely geometric patterns that emerge,)

Tapestry 1.

How good is this little painting...!! another new one by Valerie, it's taken from a view near Daylesford
it's oil on canvas, and is about 30cm x 30cm,  Valerie knows her colours so well,
and she is doing something that is entirely original, and unique, very rare these days. if you are interested in purchasing, email me on rogerrobertsart@gmail.com for price etc.

Landscape.

This is a recent painting by my wife Valerie, she recently won 1st prize at the Swiss Italian Festa here in Daylesford and is now working towards an exhibition at the end of the year, this is a painting of a famous landmark on the way to Ballarat,

Nice Rocks !

Another view of back garden with rocks bought in by Gary my "Bob cat friend"

Our new back garden.

This is a photo of our new back garden, only one year old, from basically nothing,  it has been terraced and tweaked within an inch of it's life !!

kitchen still life.

this painting was completed about a year ago and hangs on the kitchen wall.  I will put it in the exhibition for the Daylesford and Macedon ranges art trail in October november.

Nest with Beetle (sold )

another painting from the archives, I was into realism, back then, !!  the latest nests are looser and have a more abstract feel, if you click on it you will see the beetle.

apple and pear. (sold )

This is a painting I did about 7 years ago ( I'm looking through the archives !! ) it was about a meter wide, I like the underpainting that I have left showing through, and the limited colours.

Nest painting from 2009 (sold )

This is a photo of an early nest painting that I may not have included on my blog, I like
the freshness of the paint application, and the little spot of blue not sure who purchased it.

peaches and jug.

Enjoy !! only small, about 30 x 25 cm. oil on canvas.

Apple with 3 pears.

a quick study I'm trying to keep away from too dark backgrounds,!! oil on canvas, small format.

pastel drawing

a drawing done late last year at Sebastapol ( Ballarat.)  a 20 minute pose.

Big Impression.

A large painting 120 cm in width, oil on canvas, it would look great in anyones kitchen !!

shelter from the storm.

This is the 1st nest painting I have done for maybe a year, it's around 1 meter square, oil on canvas,

Apple and pear.

Arabellas feathers.

The light was stronger on one side so you must imagine this painting on a clean white background,
it's about a meter wide, and was done for my granddaughter in Adelaide, she thinks it is 'awesome' !!
and will adorn her bedroom wall when I next get down there.

Plums.

A slightly off square!! photo of a new painting, 3 Plums, it's oil on canvas, and the size is about 61 x 51 cm.

Blue lady

This is a drawing done at Sebastapol in Ballarat recently hope you like it.

Happy fruit.

This is an old painting from last year, that I have never been 100% happy with, so I fiddled around
a bit and added some brighter colours with  broader brush strokes etc so now I am happy!!  the size is
61 x 61 cm.

Fig on blue.

A new painting, oil on canvas 41 x 51 cm.  In this one I have gone away from a traditional tight finish.

Pastel portrait

This is a close up from a life drawing done recently at Ballarat, just burnt sienna and white chalk.

Figs in a row.

This was a painted last week only a small painting 310 x 150. mm. we ate them afterwards,!! sounds cruel doesn't it.

Fallen Pear.

This one is 600 x 450 mm oil on canvas, I'm trying to keep a lighter palette, I had fun and love playing with pastel tints.

fruit and vase.

This painting was done recently in oil on masonite, it's strange painting on such a non porous surface,
I may try it again on a bigger scale, the only trouble is that you are forced to have it framed, which can
be a drag, if you have a few to do.
