New life drawing.

This was a drawing done at last weeks, life session, when I
1st saw this pose, I thought it would be so boring to draw, but once into it, I enjoyed it, and I'm happy with the result,
again this is a large piece, almost a meter in depth, to purchase, just email me, I might put some drawings up on Ebay soon.

Still life with apple and pears

What more can I say?!

New still Life.

I spent some tme in the studio at the weekend, and produced a few small still-life paintings. I love the proportion of these little canvases and still life being my favourite subject - I just can't help myself! Which takes dedication considering the terrible heat we are exeriencing in Adelaide. (a national record for a heat wave 15 days in a row over 35 degrees Celcius). Can't wait for winter!

This is my most recent nest painting and it's one that I feel is quite successful, especially the spontaneous and impressionist brush strokes.

This will go in a local art show in about 3 weeks time.

small still life.

another little painting that was produced for an exhibition here in Adelaide, one of a series, all the same size and are displayed standing up on a table, they are on smalll canvases that are about 2 inches thick, I paint the edge black, they look really nice like objects rather than paintings on a wall.

Lemons, chillies and bowl.

This is a painting done for my recent Sydney exhibition,I have used lots of white space!! , making a punctuated pattern across the canvas. my camera, didn't pick up a lot of the mauve subleties, that are there in the original.

Cherry and pear.

Another little painting completed over the Christmas break, I like the reflection of the pear on the side of the cherry, and the space around the objects give the picture some sort of dignity, and solitude.

3 Corelle pears.

While painting this little still life, the temperature outside the studio was around 39 deg celcius, over a 100 degrees in the old language, my ancient air conditioner was struggling! I suppose we will all have to expect more and more extreme weather in the future with global warming, becoming a very real part of our lives.but the pears look cool!

another small still life, I think it is very compelling in it's simplicity, not sure if I should frame it? most people these days prefer their paintings without frames.

birds nest painting

This nest painting was done the other day, it's smaller than I normally do, about 500 x 500 cms, it works well, I believe because it was painted quickly in a more spontaneous way, I held myself back from labouring over it, with too much fine detail, (a habit left over from my years as an illustrator!)

This little painting was done for a client in Sydney, that had admired something similar at my exhibition recently, I will use the holiday break to do some more still life pictures, my favourite theme for paintings, watch this spot.!

Male Figure

This is a charcoal and pastel drawing, I usually only use pastels. The likeness is fairly good considering this was only a 15 minute pose. This has been sold.

Nest on Beige

This is another of my nest paintings. It is currently on display at Digipress, 12 King William Street Kent Town, South Australia. It's shown on a lovely charcoal grey wall, which seems to suit it very well and judging by the enquiries other people seem to agree.

New pastel drawing
