Some friends of ours bought a big still life painting last year, and have recently commissioned another one to go on the wall of their new kitchen this one is in acrylic and will suit the position really well,
Richard is a very good cook who does a brilliant curry!!  again over a meter square, it really 'Pops' as they say!!

Oakbank Nest.

My daughter Emily requested a big nest painting for her house, as I had 'borrowed' back an
earlier nest painting left over from an exhibition, so after much procrastinating, !! I finally
made an effort and did this one, click on it to get better detail.
it is over a meter deep and 120 wide.

my kitchen rules!!

I have produced a number of these large scale ( over a meter square ) acrylic paintings, over the last couple of years, with the emphasis on 'brightness', ' fun' and 'colour', this one is on our own kitchen wall,  hopefully we can have it for a while, before it goes to a new home.  The vases shown are a part of my collection of 'Carnival Glass'  or 'End of Day ' glass.

I used a black rembrandt pastel stick together with a rag to blur edges and get a tone, then added highlights in white, it has a painterly effect. click on image for a better and bigger image.

Drawing at Eastwood.

A new drawing made at harry's life drawing group at eastwood in Adelaide, done in charcoal
and using a rag to wipe away areas, the rag acts almost as a drawing implement.

I have been doing some smaller still life pictures, very traditional but really close to my
heart, I may put a few more of these up over the next few days, I enjoy seeing the brush strokes.

Nest paintings on new wine label

My nest paintings have made it on to some bottles of wine, the company is called McLaren Vale Winemakers, Bloom wines.  I haven't tasted the wine yet, the release date is yet to be set,
but the images look really good, everyone is very happy.

Leaving Home

This is a new Nest painting, completed recently.  It will go on display in Sydney in a contemporary furniture shop in Double Bay.  I have now moved back to Adelaide and have built a new studio so hopefully I can add on a more basis to this blog.

Apple and two Pears.

This painting is oil on canvas, and is 1 meter by 1 meter in size, you would think after painting all this fruit I would be really healthy and eat most of it after completing the artwork,? but no, It usually sits on the shelf and after several weeks of being ignored, I remember to put it in the compost!!

this is a very small painting oil on canvas, I enjoyed applying the paint in some places with the palette knife.

two and a half pears!

I love this one, it is like a map of the pears, it's about a meter square imagine this on a white wall, in a modern home, I wish I could afford to have it on my wall!! it's acrylic on canvas.  I'm torn between oil and acrylic, oil is more manageable and allows you to blur edges, so I will probably stick to oil.

Red Delicious.

I'm having a small exhibition in a lovely cafe called 'Togs' in a nearby town called Castlemaine,
during October, so I have been busy making some new pictures, all will be still life, and mostly will be in a newer and fresher and more vibrant style. hope you like them.
